The Cougar Athlete of the Week is senior cross-country runner Mackenzie Perry. Mackenzie placed 6th at the Northview Wildcats Invitational and helped lead our team to a 5th place finish. At the Dave's XC Invitational, she placed 10th and helped our team place 5th again. At the Van Buren Black Knight Invitational, Mackenzie placed 3rd and helped lead the team to a 3rd place finish. This past weekend, Mackenzie placed 10th at the Clay Eagle Invitational. As a senior, Mackenzie has continued to improve her time over the course of the season. Head coach Taylor Bosl commented, "When training over the summer, I could see a big difference in Mackenzie and I knew she would have a great season. She always comes to practice with a positive attitude and is willing to put in the work that is needed to improve. When Mackenzie steps foot on the starting line, I can always trust that she is going to put forth her best effort and do what needs to be done to put our team in a good scoring position. Ever since her freshman year, she has been a leader and she continues to lead our team at practice and at races. I'm so proud of Mackenzie and everything she has accomplished so far in her running career. I can't wait to see what else she has in store for this season!" In addition to running cross-country and track, Mackenzie is the Student Senate President and a member of the Speech & Debate team and the National Honor Society. She currently carries a 4.57 GPA and will be a Computer Science major at an undecided college. Congratulations Mackenzie!
